Jack Duggan and Richard Morris dedicated their lives to protecting people from the devastating effects of fire since the 1950’s. The two participated and created many associations together. They sat on a number of fire industry related boards. Jack was the first President of the CFAA and Rich was one of the original directors. Rich was the first non-American Chairman of the NFPA and a board member for over 16 years. This was the beginning of a lifelong friendship in the fire safety industry. Jack and Rich owned and operated various companies in Canada like Fire Detection Devices, Federal Alarms Ltd, National Security, Dominion Fire and Burglary, ESC, (Electronic Surveillance Corporation), Pyrene, Pyrotronics, and Cerberus Pyrotronics all highly successful organizations.
As Rich’s son, I shared his passion in fire protection and founded Firetronics 2000 Inc. a company that specializes in fire alarm sales, service and ULC Monitoring. In 2009, Firetronics created a new division completely dedicated to fire and sprinkler alarm system monitoring. It was at this time that ESC became a supplier to Firetronics. I recognized ESC’s unique ability to transmit device level information from an addressable fire alarm control panel to the central station. I realized that this was the technology we needed to set ourselves apart from everyone else. Forwarding such specific information to the responding fire and emergency services will save time, money and lives. It was inevitable that these two families would join forces to offer the latest and most advanced and accurate fire and sprinkler monitoring panels available today.
